Great news regarding Princess the Greyhound and Angel the Rotti.

Previous posts will have to be read if you are a new reader.

First Princess.
After a lot of phone calls between the vet, the Island rep and the local rep of the Greyhound League, with the conversation going from seeing if the leg will mend well enough on its own by leaving the splint on, to amputation of the leg or last resort euthanasia.
The league just didn't have the funding to cover the cost of the Orthopedic Specialist in Vancouver that could do the surgery needed to repair the leg properly.
We were beginning to think the situation was hopeless when the local rep called to say the league had more funds than they first realized and would be able to send her to the Vet in Vancouver for the surgery to fix the leg. They will pay the full cost, even though Rob said he would be willing to cover half of it..

She has to be at the vet in Vancouver 9 30 Tuesday morning. I will have to take her over Monday evening and stay over night.
She is worth every penny of the $3,500 it is going to cost. There will be a fund raiser to help replenish the bank account.
Rob said we are going to adopt her after all this is over. He can't bare to part with her after going through this with her.
Great, we failed fostering a second time. We will now have 3 greyhound and a grumpy Lhasa! LOL

Angel.
After we told D that we were not able to look after Angel for him any longer he put her in 24 hour doggy day care for the 3 weeks he is away.
He called after the first week to say it is not fair on her to be going back and forth between people and he is now ready to give her up.
Anette, who is the local Greyhound rep, the owner of the Doggy Day care and also a friend said that her sister just happens to be looking for a Rotti!

Princess gets her leg fixed, Angel gets a wonderful forever home. A happy ending for two great dogs.

I'm so glad the league came up with the money, it sounds very unlikely it would have healed well without proper intervention. What a relief!

My Italian Greyhound broke her leg and it cost me a small fortune by the time all was said and done... between two surgeries and visits to my own vet for wound checks and new dressings I ended up investing enough money to buy a small country. The poor girl could not run for almost six months and had multiple yeast infections on her paws due to her dressings getting wet. Good luck with your girl. I will be praying for both of you during this long recovery.
