Ok, Sharon, thanks for reminding me it has been a few days (Again) since I updated my blog!

I put a few eggs in the incubator a while ago. Only one of them hatched. It is a little khaki Campbell duck.
We felt sorry for the little guy not having any other hatchlings to cuddle up with so, after several phone calls we found someone willing to sell us a one week old duck to keep it company.
Cup Cake (The already named week old duck) is huge compared to lonesome. It will be interesting to see what he grows up into. We were told he is a Campbell but we have our doubts about that at the moment!
We also bought 6 day old chicks last week. We wanted 12 but we were told all but 6 were already spoken for.
The store phoned us a couple of days later to say they had another 14 if we were interested.
Of course we said yes, So we now have 20 little chick and 2 little ducks.
Of course we still have lots of bunnies!
I will post some picture of the chick another day.

Marmaduck was a year old. She was hatched in our incubator a few days before I went on vacation last May. Until I got Duke a couple of months ago she was the only muscovey duck we had.
While I was away Rob thought he lost her, he found her a couple of days later snuggled under our white silky hen who had literally taken her under her wing to raise her.
She was the coolest duck. She would come flying to me when I called her and would eat from my hand.
The Campbell ducks started to ignore her so a couple of months ago I got a male companion for her. She had been sitting on a nest of her eggs for the last couple of weeks.
Yesterday her nest was empty and the eggs cold. There were a few feathers scattered about.
I came in the house and went to bed. I slept all day. I couldn't even bear to go look for her.
Rob found her body for me last night and took care of her for me.
A bastard mink had killed her.

I have been a bit lax of late regarding my blog. I get a bit bogged down with life some times have been reading or knitting rather than going on the computer for my moments of escape.

We had a friend over the other day with their little 2 year old. He managed to slip away unoticed. His mum heard Kesha barking at the creek and ran down there.
Kesha was running back and forth to get our attention while at the same time keeping the little one away from the waters edge.
What a fantastic dog she is!

We had a couple of critters of a different kind wondering in the 'Forest' over the weekend.
Our niece and her hubby wanted some quiet time together so we had a couple of their kids for the weekend for them.
Apart from a scrape on the forhead caused from a fall down the bank at the back of the duck pond for one of them, a grazed arm from sliding down a wooden railing on the other, I think we all survived very well.!!

I have been told by my friend Sharon that she has seen enough of the unfinished chicken house, that I should finish it or update my blog!
Also, my mum, brother and (again) by my friend Sharon that they didn't like the smiley picture of Sam. Boy, sure hard to please some people..! lol
