It is damp, foggy and overcast today.

This has to be the most unattractive time of the year around here.
The trees are bare of their leaves and the ground is covered with them.
When the leaves first fall I love the way they look covering the ground but after so much rain plus the dusting of snow we had yesterday, it is all looking very unkempt and neglected.
The goat yard is very muddy and so are the goats.
In spite of that I wouldn't want to change a thing.
Walking through the leaves heading down to the creek with the dogs, no matter how cold, rainy or windy, gives me so much pleasure.
Sometime I forget how fortunate I am to live where I live, to have what I have.
It may not be much but to me I live in a little part of heaven.

It has been cold here the past couple of mornings. The ducks are having problems getting out of their pond because the sides are so slippery with ice.
We had some old carpet remnants outside so yesterday I put a strip of carpet at the edge of the pond to help them get out.
It looked like it was working great yesterday. This morning however, as I watched them struggling to get out of the pond by using the carpet, I realized that I had obviously not though it through very well.
The carpet of course, had as much ice on it as the rest of the pond!
I have now put a strip of small meshed wire over the carpet in the hope that it will be enough for them to grip onto when they come out of the pond.

I have written about our rabbit population before.

Most people know if you have more than one rabbit you end up with LOTS more than one rabbit.

After finally getting all our rabbits sexed and separated about a year ago we have had no increase in rabbits and have even found homes for some of them.

We have four males, Benjamin and Simon have both been fixed. Benjamin lives in the rabbit house with six females.
Simon has always lived free and continues to do so.

Ray Charles and Black Rabbit use to live with a pair of Old English bantams chickens.

Mink got into the run and killed the Bantams and blinded Ray Charles, who now lives in the nursery pen.
Black Rabbit managed to escape so we have let him run free with Simon ever since.

One or more of the females started chewing a hole through the back of the rabbit house. I noticed it and put a good size piece of wire over the area.
I didn't secure it well enough on one side and one of the girls got out. I thought I caught her before Black Rabbit even knew she was out.

Last weekend our grandson Colin was checking in the bunny house and told me there were baby rabbits in there!
Sure enough we have three more rabbits!
