IN MEMORY OF BAILEY



She was the much loved dog of my friend Sharon and Guy.
She was a frequent visitor around here and she loved all the baby rabbits that I have.
You would have thought they were her own babes the way she would fuss over them.
She also enjoyed walks to the creek with the other dogs and the goats.

Bailey died in her sleep Saturday night/Sunday morning.

She will be very much missed.

I took this picture earlier in the year of the goat yard.

During the winter the ground turned to mud.

I was hoping that the grass would survive and start to grow again once the nice weather hit us.

The weather can't get much better and not a blade of grass to be seen out there.

I bought horse and sheep pasture grass seed on Friday. Rob and I put up a temporary fence to keep the critter out. I prepared the ground on one section yesterday and sprinkled the seed this morning.

Hopefully it will grow well and the critter can go back into that area after about 3 weeks. I will seed the rest of their yard once this section grows.

Isn't he wonderful.

He belongs to my friend Linda.
Due to ill health she hasn't been able to ride for the last couple of years or more.

Moving to Costa Rica has been a great help to her physically and she is now back in the saddle.
Well done Linda.

This a Lonesome coming into the world from his shell.

He was the only egg to hatch. Hence is name.




We felt sorry for the poor little guy, so we called around and found a week old duck that we bought for $10 to keep him company




Then we saw these day old chicks.
We bought the last 20 of them.




They are all a bit bigger than this now, but still lots of fun to have running around

Here is a picture of BABE. He is being bottle feed and thinks I am his momma. I am sooo in love with him.
He follows me around the yard and 'talks' to me.



This is Maggie and her baby.
I have named the baby Jenny, but
not sure it is what I will stay with.

They have settled in surprisingly well considering the long journey they had to get here.
When Babe and Jenny play together I get next to nothing done. I start watching them and before I know it another hour (or more) has passed They are just so funny.
Rob is as bad. He has been late leaving for work more than once. He looks out the window and is hooked on all the goings on.
What great stress reducers critters are.

Oh my gosh. What an 'adventure' Rob and I had on Monday.

Glennis, the goat breeder from Alberta, was willing to drive all the way to Hope to meet us.
She brought the 3 goats we were buying from her. Maggie, with her month old doe Jenny and Hey Babe, a month old buck.

We were on the 7 45 ferry out of Nanaimo and got to Hope at noon. The transfer from Glennis's vehicle to ours was relatively easy and we were heading home before 1 00.
We were so glad that we would make it back in time to get the 3 15 ferry back to the island.

The condensed version is: Our car broke down in Surrey. We missed the 3 15 ferry.
Needed to get the tow truck to get us and a car full of goats to a garage.
Rob told the curious that we were on our way to a BBQ !!!!!!!

The problem was something to do with a broken seal on the transmission, Plus I was all but out of oil!
What can I say, if the little light didn't come on to tell me I was low on gas I would forget to put that in as well...

We missed the 5 15 ferry.
We went to our daughters house in Richmond and let the poor goat out of the car and into her yard.
Maggie head butted the gate and with Jenny behind her ran for her life up the middle of the street.
Rob was just too embarrassed to even come and help me chase them through neighbors back yard and drag her back by the horns to the car.

We did make the 8 15 ferry and got home by 10 30.

It was all worth it. The 3 of them are adorable. So far no problems with them with Saline, Molly and Becky.

Still can't post pictures. As soon as the problem is fixed I will have lots to show you.

One of my "international Readers" wants to know why I haven't invited Sharon over yet to get my pictures uploaded from my camera.!

Okay, its my brother Alan, in England.

Anyway, Sharon will be over next week to bail me out once again from a computer problem. Then I can get pictures on here again.


On Monday I am going to pick up my long awaited new Angora goats.
Maggie is the momma, with her little doe kid.
As yet the little girl is un-named.
The other is Babe, a male kid with the most beautiful blue eyes.
The breeder send pictures to me but for reasons unknown to me I can't upload them to my blog.

Our daughter took Keeper and Honey Bunny, two of our bunnies, in January for her two boys.
She found out last week that Keeper is a female and Honey bunny is a male.
It wasn't too hard to figure out because Keeper had 5 babies!
Honey Bunny is going to the vet on Monday to get fixed!

Lots of excitement going on at the moment because daughter and family put their house up for sale yesterday and are moving over here to the island. I think her dad and I are more excited about it than they are!

I am having problems uploading pictures from my camera to the computer. Must mean its time for my friend Sharon to come visit. She is my computer fixer. She always make it look so easy!
